Arsenal drop huge hint over Jurrien Timber injury return

Image
Arsenal have added Dutch defender Jurrien Timber to their Champions League squad for the second half of the season as he nears a return from injury. Timber joined Arsenal from Ajax for around £38m during the summer but suffered a serious ACL injury during his Premier League debut and, after undergoing surgery, was left off the European squad list for the group stage. However, Timber is now back in the squad, with Mikel Arteta handing him the senior spot which was vacated by Lino Sousa's winter exit to Aston Villa. Just when Timber will be back available remains to be seen. Initial estimates of seven to nine months on the sidelines would mean a return in March at the very earliest, and his inclusion in the squad suggests that sort of time frame may prove to be accurate. Arsenal will take on Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League, but that tie will almost certainly come too soon for Timber. The first leg is scheduled for February 21, with the return fixture on March 12. Shoul...

Hollywood strikes enter a new phase as daytime shows like Drew Barrymore's return despite pickets

“The Drew Barrymore Show” will begin airing fresh episodes on Monday but a lot of off-air controversy will be clinging to its typically bubbly host NEW YORK -- NEW YORK (AP) — “The Drew Barrymore Show” will begin airing fresh episodes on Monday but a lot of off-air controversy will be clinging to its typically bubbly host. Barrymore — a daughter of a proud acting dynasty — is making new batches of her syndicated talk show despite picketers outside her studio, as daytime TV becomes the latest battlefield in the ongoing Hollywood labor strife. “We’re four months approximately into this strike and it’s not surprising that there are defectors,” said Michael H. LeRoy, a professor of labor and employment relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. “I couldn’t predict that this would happen on daytime TV, but everybody has a breaking point in a labor dispute.” “The Drew Barrymore Show,” operating without its three union writers, isn’t the only daytime show to resume. “The Vi...

The president of the Albanian Football Association has revealed that Chelsea striker Armando Broja is set to make his return to competitive action after the international break. Broja has not been seen since suffering a nasty knee injury back in December, undergoing surgery and committing to a lengthy recovery process which is slowly approaching its conclusion. New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has repeatedly name-dropped Broja when asked about a move for a new striker, hinting at his excitement towards working with the 22-year-old academy graduate. That link-up could be coming soon as Albanian FA president Armand Duka told Euronews that Broja could even made it back to Chelsea's bench when the Blues return to Premier League action against Bournemouth on Sunday. "Broja has completed his recovery phase," Duka said. "Maybe this week he will be on the bench with Chelsea, ready to return to the field. "He should be back in October for the [international] Game...
