Paris Saint-Germain produced a dominant performance as they roared to a comfortable 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League opener on Tuesday night. A Kylian Mbappe penalty early in the second half got the scoring underway before former Dortmund favourite Achraf Hakimi slotted home a second to put the Game to bed. Luis Enrique's side boasted close to 70% possession on an evening in which they were rarely under threat, cruising to a statement win to begin their European journey. How the game unfolded It was Dortmund who actually had the first opportunity of the Game . Donyell Malen found some space in the box 15 minutes in but couldn't steer his strike away from Gianluigi Donnarumma's welcoming arms. That was about as good as it got for Dortmund as PSG wrestled control of the contest. Randal Kolo Muani mis-hit what should have been an easy goal before Vitinha saw a strike cannon back off the post. Boasting nearly 80% possession as the first half ticked ...

Farmers across Bulgaria protest against Ukrainian grain as EU divide grows

Farmers across Bulgaria protested Monday after the government lifted a ban on food products from Ukraine, complaining that the move will cause an influx that drives down prices for local growers PERNIK, Bulgaria -- Farmers across Bulgaria protested Monday after the government lifted a ban on food products from Ukraine, complaining that the move will cause an influx that drives down prices for local growers. Hundreds of farmers around the country converged in their tractors, many of them waving national flags and honking horns as they blockaded main roads and disrupted traffic to express their anger. The protest follows a decision Thursday by Bulgarian lawmakers to allow imports from Ukraine to resume, saying the ban had deprived the government of tax revenue and led to higher food prices. A day later, the European Union also decided not to renew the overall ban on Ukrainian food heading to five member countries. Poland, Hungary and Slovakia have since unilaterally imposed their own blo...

LeRoy, a professor of labor and employment relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. “I couldn’t predict that this would happen on daytime TV, but everybody has a breaking point in a labor dispute.” “The Drew Barrymore Show,” operating without its three union writers, isn’t the only daytime show to resume. “The Vi...

Armando Broja return date revealed by Albanian FA president

The president of the Albanian Football Association has revealed that Chelsea striker Armando Broja is set to make his return to competitive action after the international break. Broja has not been seen since suffering a nasty knee injury back in December, undergoing surgery and committing to a lengthy recovery process which is slowly approaching its conclusion. New Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has repeatedly name-dropped Broja when asked about a move for a new striker, hinting at his excitement towards working with the 22-year-old academy graduate. That link-up could be coming soon as Albanian FA president Armand Duka told Euronews that Broja could even made it back to Chelsea's bench when the Blues return to Premier League action against Bournemouth on Sunday. "Broja has completed his recovery phase," Duka said. "Maybe this week he will be on the bench with Chelsea, ready to return to the field. "He should be back in October for the [international] Game...

Liverpool handed major boost as midfielder makes injury comeback

Liverpool have been strengthened by the return of Stefan Bajcetic to com Pet itive action. The highly-rated defensive midfielder came off the bench for the last 25 minutes of Spain's Under-21s 6-0 win at Malta in European Championships qualifying on Friday evening. Bajcetic, who turns 19 in October, enjoyed a breakthrough 2022/23 season at Liverpool despite some of the team's more senior midfield ers struggling. His campaign was cut short in March after suffering a tear in his abductor muscle, only recently returning to Liverpool's matchday squads. Bajcetic was an unused substitute in the Reds' last three Game s prior to the September internationals. Interestingly, Bajcetic's return with Spain U21s came in an unfamiliar role, playing the latter stages of their victory as a centre-back. READ THE LATEST LIVERPOOL NEWS, TRANSFER RUMOURS & GOSSIP feed In a recent interview published in Liverpool's matchday programme, Bajcetic insisted he is willing to play in an...

Texas granted temporary stay to allow Rio Grande buoys to be kept in place

Texas has been granted a temporary stay, a day after a federal judge ordered the state to move the barriers it placed in the Rio Grande to its side of the river. A U.S. Appeals Court granted the State of Texas an emergency stay on Thursday, allowing the state to keep the barriers it installed in the Rio Grande in place for now. The development comes a day after a federal judge in Austin ordered the state of Texas to move the barriers to the riverbank on the Texas side of the river by Sept. 15. The state was also ordered not to put up any additional structures on or in the river until the final outcome of the lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice, according to the judge. The state's motion for a stay of the order has been granted "pending further order of the Court," the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals' filing stated. It is expected that the Fifth Circuit will hear full arguments from both sides on whether to keep or move the barriers from the Rio Grande River....

Eddie Howe reluctant to sell Jamaal Lascelles ahead of Saudi Pro League deadline

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has dismissed suggestions that he could allow club captain Jamal Lascelles to leave before the end of the Saudi Arabian transfer window. Lascelles, who has less than 12 months left on his contract at St James' Park, was linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League in recent days, but sources have told 90min that Newcastle never undertook talks over his sale. The Saudi window closes on Thursday. The 29-year-old was one of a number of players that Howe would have allowed to leave the club this summer but only if they signed a replacement. Although two full-backs arrived in the shape of Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall, Newcastle did not sign another centre-half. Howe has now made it clear that the club can't afford to lose Lascelles. That assertion has been backed up in the opening weeks of the season which has seen first-choice centre-backs Sven Botman and Fabian Schar pick up injuries. Botman has suffered an ankle injury, which ruled him out of ...

Event organizers said they started to let traffic flow out of the main road around 2 p.m. local time — even as they continued urging attendees to delay their exit to help ease traffic on Monday. About two hours after the mass departure began, organizers estimated a wait time of about five hours. Organizers also asked attendees not to walk out of the Black Rock Desert about 110 miles (177 kilometers) north of Reno as others had done throughout the weekend, including Celebrity DJ Diplo and...
